About The Department
The Department of Zoology initiated its journey in 2006, offering the subject as a combination paper for the general degree course in undergraduate level. It adopted the C.B.C.S. curriculum w.e.f. 2017-18 session, followed by C.C.F. norm w.e.f. 2023-24 session. In spite of having a backward socio-economic rural base, percentage of passed out students from this department from 2019-20 to 2022-23 is 100%. It is pleasurable to note that a significant percentage of the pass-out students of this department have either gone to Higher Education or jointed to Govt./Private services.
At present the department has one substantive teacher and two SACT. Department has a moderate collection of animal specimens belonging to invertebrate as well as vertebrate phyla. Department has an average set up of instruments like microscopes (Simple and Compound), Colorimeter, Heating mantle, Refrigerator and chemicals. Till now, the department has successfully conducted one international webinar in collaboration with Department of Environmental Science under the aegis of IQAC. Department has good practices to engage students in various co-curricular activities like Drawing competition, Essay competition and Instant Speech Competition. Department has organized several field studies like visit to Sericulture Centre, Poultry Farm visit and visit to a pond ecosystem according to the needs of the syllabuses of different semesters. The faculties of this department have been acted as paper setter as well as examiner of affiliating university in the year round.
The faculties are intensively involved with research as well as off-campus extension social activities.
