About The Department
The Department of Botany started functioning since the inception of the college in 2006. Initially, this department offered B.Sc. general degree course as a part of B.Sc. Bioscience section. B.Sc major in Botany was introduced in the college in 2023. This department currently offers B. Sc. Major in Botany, B. Sc Minor in Botany. The percentage of passed-out students from 2018-2019 to 2022-23 is 100% in this department.
At present the department has one substantive teacher and one SACT. The department has a laboratory with different instruments like Compound Microscopes, Simple Microscopes, Heating Mantle, etc. The Department also processes a small herbarium having a collection of various dried plant species from Bankura, West Bengal. This department also maintains a medicinal garden with different medicinal plants. Till now the department has successfully conducted a webinar, and two workshops.
Departmental teachers use different teaching methods in the classroom like projectors, permanent slides, herbarium specimens etc for better understanding of students.
