About The Department

History:

Within a backward socio-economic rural base, Indas Mahavidyalaya started its academic journey on and from 2006. The History of Indas Mahavidyalaya , Indas, Bankura has a glorious history in its origin and gradual progress since its inception in the year 2006 in its general pass course under the University of Burdwan.

In the year 2008, Physical Education General Course was Introduced. The result of the University examination of this department highly satisfactory.

At present the department has 190 (22+15+153) student in Physical Education Programme course. In the year 2017 (sem-1/2+sem-3/4+sem-5/6) Syllabus has been revised under CBCS system in. Now 2023 Syllabus has been revised under NEP.

Modes of Teaching / Learning :

The basic mode of classroom teaching/learning using the “chalk and talk”.

The verbal lectures of the teachers are supplemented with study materials-print out texts, Xerox materials, website links and pdfs. For better engagement rules & regulations of Practical subject are also shown. The department also organizes seminars and workshops. The Department also participated varius type tournament.

Departmental Activities during the pandemic situation:

 25.08.2020 – Online Class.

 05.09.2020 - Teacher’s Day Celebration(Online).

 02.10.2020 – Gandhi Jayanti Celebration(Online).

 23.01.2021 – Netaji’s Birthday Celebration(Online).

 26.01.2021 – Republic Day Celebration (Online).

 29.08.2021 - Sports day Celebration (Online).

Objectives:

It is the objective of the dept. To create all-round development of body mind soul through the theoretical and practical classes of Physical Education. Following the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, faculty members of the dept. prepare the students to develop their physical, mental, social well-being so that they may come out as good citizens of our country.

Facilities available in the Department:

 Still now faculty members of Physical Education Department follow the traditional lecture deliver & Demonstrate method (chalk, board, talk and Demonstrate method).

 The department has its own special place in it where the students can meet their special need regarding their study.

 The faculty members academically help the students in their need.

 Athletics, Football, kho kho, Badminton, Volleyball, Kabaddi Ground facilities are available.

 The departmental faculty members can also use the Vartual classroom to teach the students using modern technology. There is scope of teaching, using power point presentation on the projector.

 The student used Multi gym.

Modes of Assessment:

Final exams under the university mandates are conducted alongside informal and alternative assessments methods like project, assignments, surprise texts and viva for formative development of the students.

Extra Cericulam Activities:

The department organizes Sports, Play day, Yoga day, Martial Arts, Field Survey, Intramural Competition etc.

Teacher student relationship:

Education is a binary relation between teachers and students. Healthy atmosphere depends mainly upon good relationship among students. The relationship between teachers and students is very good both inside as well as outside of the institution. When any student face any difficulty, whatever it may be academic or not, teachers are ready to help them to overcome the situation. Teachers are friends, philosophers and guide of the students. Similarly students also regard the teachers both inside and outside the college.
